For a dose of "bygone charm", this "centrally located" "architectural masterpiece" from the 1920s with a "beautiful" Craftsman-style lobby is the choice for history buffs who also appreciate "modern" touches like a Starbucks, free WiFi and a zero-edge pool with waterfall; you'll get plenty of "Southern hospitality" (though it's sometimes "disorganized") and "comfortable" bedding, but critics wish they'd do a "better job cleaing the rooms", baths and hallways and warn against the "small and lame" restaurant buffet.

Beautiful lobby and
was well decorated room.
The HVAC was so loud that it woke us every time that it came on.

Beautiful hotel with nicely decorated rooms in a location only a few blocks from restaurants, the Riverwalk and the Arts district.
Took three tries to get us keys that worked and the HVAC was so loud that it woke us up all night when it came on. ...read more

Very clean, comfortable, and a friendly staff.
View from our room was not good but this was minor!

After reading some of the reviews, I was pleasantly surprised by our visit. The front desk staff was very friendly. Since my husband has asthma, I called ahead and asked for a pet-free room. When I arrived at the hotel they had already also removed all down feather items from the bedding! The beds were still just as plush and comfy. Our room was updated, clean and quiet. We did have to pay the $15 to park, but bell service was free and the valets were very quick with their service. The pool area was clean, the pool was heated and our boys loved the waterfalls. Great experience! ...read more

Beautiful Convenient, and was historic
Our queen room, although it had every amenity possible for it's size, was tiny.

Security guard woke me out of my sleep at 5 am on the last day of my vacation about a noise complaint this in turn ruined an otherwise nice experience. The security guard had the personality of a brick and should have used better judgement. ...read more

This hotel is over priced for what you get. High dollar parking, high dollar restaurants, Older hotel and rooms show it.. Rooms way too small! Have to pay extra for everything offered. $15 parking, $15 movies, You even have to pay extra for bottled water in your room. Nothing complimentary to guest that pay high dollar ...read more

Great location.
Small rooms.

The hotel was in a great location. It was very close to all the downtown attractions. The staff was friendly. The room was small so there was no distance between between the bedroom and the hall so you could hear people talking and doors closing. ...read more

We were on the newer side. Room was renovated. Nice!
Parking is $15 a night.

This is our 4th time staying at this hotel, and I must say our room was the cleanest it has ever been. We were quite pleased. We only stayed one night however, we will be back in the future.
